Blacktail Mountain on the west shore of Flathead Lake overlooks Lakeside, Montana. The Ski Area is a snap to get to with easy access from Highway 93 South. Look for the signs and turn west at Blacktail Grocery once in Lakeside. Follow the Blacktail Road 14 miles to the mountaintop. Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is an hour and a half from Glacier Park International Airport and the train depot in Whitefish.
In driving to the mountain top, regardless of whether you are an expert or novice skier/snowboarder, everyone starts at the top on Blacktail Mountain. Views from Flathead Lake to Glacier Park and of the Mission, Whitefish and Cabinet Ranges surround. On this “upside-down hill” you have a top to bottom run in before riding a chair!
